Acquired in May 2009, the Carthage, Indiana site is the third Smurfit-Stone paper mill in the U.S. purchased by Green Investment Group, Inc. (GIGI). An environmental investigation has been completed at the 180-acre site, and GIGI is currently seeking opportunities for redevelopment of the site that will be best suited to benefit the community. GIGI has been in discussion with various recycling and alternative energy producers considering the opportunities available at the Carthage site.
The GIGI team is currently in the planning phase of the clean up and remediation process.
